Vizio plasma TV Overview

The 42” Vizio plasma TV has a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels. A remote, integrated NTSC/ATSC tuner with removable side mounted speakers is currently included. This product is only available in black. While on the surface this may seem to be great, once you have a chance to see the TV you realize why the cost is so low. Budget plasma TV’s seem to be at the forefront these days and this television is leading the charge.

Out of the box the picture quality on this model is not stunning, but definitely not horrible either. The color quality is not as good as the more expensive models although for the price it would be tolerable. The Vizio plasma TV does have adjustable color settings, but after several adjustments it still did not match the quality images of the more expensive TV's.

This television also exhibited problems with false shading, an effect where colors band together as opposed to slight shading. This picture problem is easily observed even for people with untrained eyes. Looking over what is included in the Vizio plasma TV didn't make an impact although the picture quality was good. One feature that was omitted from this TV was that there wasn't sufficient input locations for HD.

DVI inputs, which are only suited to carry a 480p signal are all that is included to join your components. Currently most televisions come with 1080p, this TV clearly does not. The picture within picture feature of this model is very poor. While this TV does allow you to observe two television channels concurrently it does not have the capability to allow you to view a DVD, VCR or video game simultaneously.

Due to this fact the picture within picture feature might as well have been omitted. The one area that the Vizio does excel at is price. This model is not as highly rated as some but it also costs quite a bit less. The Vizio is an acceptable TV with its low price tag, but you could purchase a higher quality TV for more money
